The Finnish Credit Union is a closed-bond ethnic credit union. To become a member, you need to be of European descent or work for a European organization. Each Member must own 10 shares of $5 each (equal to $50). The credit union has the right to accept non-European people as members as well, however the by-laws do not allow more than 3% of the credit unions total membership to be non-European. Non-European membership applications must be approved by the board of directors. The privileges of being a shareholder of the credit union are many. You may vote on any of our by-law changes which are normally presented at the annual meeting, vote for who you would like to see on the board and when we had a profitable year, in the past we have paid back dividends based on Member shares. No banks pay profits back to their clients, but we do.
